Abstract

The phenomenon of water column separation during hydraulic transient conditions in pipelines having small pressures at normal running conditions has been reported by a number of authors. The study herein is presented together with an analysis of pressure measurements during the resulting transient, and follows a description of the experimental water hammer model and analysis of a transient test.
