Abstract

The polarized phosphorescence spectra of 1,5 napathyridine and 1,5 naphthyridine-d6 in durene and durene-d14 mixed crystals have been observed as 4°K. The emitting triplet state is assigned 3Bu(π,π*). In theory, the assignment of the lowest singlet n,π* state can be determined from a consideration of the triplet radiative lifetime, but for 1,5 naphthyridine the result is ambiguous.
