Abstract

As monotheistic religions, Judaism and Islam are strongly influenced by Greek philosophy. This works to reconcile religious and rational truth. Therefore, the role of philosophical mysticism in Jewish-Islamic discourse must be considered in order to identify common features, similar goals and religious connections. Analytically, Mohammed Seleem engages with the modern Jewish and Islamic mystical historians Gershom Scholem and Abul-Wafa at-Taftāzānī, their Jewish and Islamic mysticism and their philosophical elements in their most famous works to highlight basic elements.
