Abstract

The method of collective variables is used to investigate the phase transition in a two-component spatially homogeneous system. The approach is tested by a detailed investigation of Gaussian forms. It is shown that the phenomena of separation (demixing) and a gas-liquid phase transition occur in the system. Their alternation depends on the conditions of the problem.
