Abstract

After recalling the main features of the dipole–dipole–Potts model that we have proposed to explain the phase transitions recently observed in stoichiometric Ag+ and Na+ β-aluminas, we examine its consequences on the temperature dependence of the static dielectric constant in these materials. We used for this purpose a Kosterlitz–Thouless approach. We also discuss the BR–aBr disordering in connection with the validity of the model.
