Abstract

The phase distributions and hydrogen absorption and desorption performances for YB3-type alloys were investigated in the paper. The compositions of the alloys can be generally divided into three categories, and the pure metal phase will disappear gradually with the increase of B-side atomic number in the YB3 alloys. The hydrogen storage capacity and desorption rate increase first, and then decrease with the atomic number. The dehydrogenation temperatures and the molar enthalpies of the hydrides during the desorption process are also discussed.
