Abstract

AbstractImmobilization of the protein collagen Type I into transparent porous silica matrices produced by the sol-gel process was achieved by using a high concentration of precursor and a low pH. Surface silanol groups interact chemically with the amide and carboxylic groups of the collagen Type I to produce a novel nanohybrid.
