Abstract
This article is devoted to the analysis of research and study of self-understanding in psychology. New approaches to this problem are highlighted and a theoretical analysis of the self-understanding of “I-Identity” is reflected. It also examines the methodological foundations and problems of studying self-understanding both within the Western and Russian traditions of studying the phenomenon of “self-understanding”, a comparative analysis of these definitions is carried out, with the allocation of the category of “I” (I as a construct) and the phenomenon of “Self” / “Selbst” / self and self (English / German / Russian as a pronoun and as a noun) in order, based on the conditional differentiation of the concepts of “I” and “Myself”, to theoretically substantiate and meaningfully reveal the integral phenomenon of “self-understanding of Self-Identity” as a result of finding a balance between personal and social identities of a person in modern society.
