Abstract

Background: The cardinal symptoms of Parkinson disease (PD) are tremor, muscle rigidity, bradykinesia, and postural instability caused by degeneration of nigrostriatal dopaminergic neurons. Thus, restoring dopamine-synthesizing enzymes through gene therapy could be a promising strategy for ameliorating motor symptoms of PD.
