Abstract

This is one in a series of End-of-Life experiences shared by families of loved ones. These sharings focus on being present at the time of passing and the feelings that emerge during the caregiving process. The process of decision making, communicating the prognosis, managing pain, and sharing time with the loved one and providing the loved one with permission to die are key to the article. Family reminiscing and the ability to look beyond the loss to the next generation of family are discussed as the family comes to closure with the passing.
