Abstract

We report the history of two patients treated with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) who developed sclerosing peritonitis (SP). The symptoms include abdominal pain, progressive weight loss, impairment of bowel movements and diffuse peritoneal calcification. Several etiologies but none conclusive have been suggested for sclerosing peritonitis. It may be idiopathic or secondary to recurrent peritoneal infections, calcium-phosphate imbalance and the use of high-glucose dialysate.
