Abstract

In this paper, the torsion problem for a bar of triangular cross section is solved by use of the successive peripheral over-relaxation method. New direct algorithms for solving the submatrices comprising the peripheral circuits on the triangular grid are given and improved results over the usual point S.O.R. method presented. The numerical example is formulated in terms of finite differences but the method is suitable also for meshes of triangular finite elements.
