Abstract

The nature of the relationship between the authorities and the press of the Orenburg region was largely determined by the features of the border region in the Central Asian direction and the multinational nature of the population. In such a situation, the most important task of state information policy is to ensure political balance, balance of interests and social stability. Indeed, the level of development of democracy in the regions and in Russia as a whole depends on the nature of the interaction of information flows. In information society, the media have not unreasonably appropriated the function of forming public perceptions of life around them. With the help of various methods of influence, not only the public opinion of the society is formed, but also its value priorities are determined. This chapter is devoted to the analysis of the state of the Orenburg region’s regional press, the dynamics of the number of registered media in the Orenburg region for 2009–2019 and also the violation of deontological standards by regional journalists. Orenburg newspapers were analysed for direct violations of the provisions of the Code of Professional Ethics of a Russian journalist and the most flagrant violations of deontological norms by Orenburg journalists were identified. In addition, during the study, we used a semantic analysis of the text, carried out using the specialised computer program Advego, as a result of which we obtained indicators of the frequency of use of certain words in the texts.
