Abstract

The C-core parametric transformer is unusual in its construction and features. It can be used as a single-to-two phase converter, frequency multiplier and voltage stabilizer. In this paper an equivalent circuit representing the device at the fundamental frequency is proposed. Effects of saturation, core losses, winding resistances and leakage reactances are taken into consideration. In order to examine the validity of the proposed equivalent circuit an experimental model is built and tested. Performance characteristics of the device are calculated and compared with the test results. It is shown that, due to the proposed equivalent circuit calculations are greatly simplified and satisfactory results are obtained.
