Abstract

Renewable energy generation has a numerous advantage, including increased sustainability and lower carbon emissions. In recent decades, solar PV based energy generation has attracted much more among the renewable energy resources. Due to its flexible and easily scalable nature, the solar PV energy systems are being extensively adapted in distributed generation systems. Solar energy generation system can be operated in both grid connected and islanded mode with various power converter topologies and control strategies. To address the uneven loss distribution and increase output power, the neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter is widely preferred. This paper investigates the performance of 3-phase, three level NPC inverter integrated with grid-connected PV generation system. Also, the digital PI current control algorithm is proposed in this article and simulated using Matlab software.
