Abstract

The organization should assess its progress in achieving its planned results against its mission, vision, policies, strategy and objectives, at all levels and in all relevant processes and functions. The selection of appropriate performance indicators and monitoring methods is critical for effective measurement and analysis of an organization. This paper shows steps for using performance indicators and their targets as guidelines for risk management according to standard ISO 9001:2015. This standard requires from the organization to determine and apply the criteria and methods (including monitoring, measurements and related performance indicators) needed to ensure the effective operation and control of its processes, but doesn’t directly link them to the risk management process which is also one of standard requirements. This paper shows the holistic way for risk based thinking based on key performance indicators, ensuring the full integration of this quality management system requirement into the organization’s business processes.
