Abstract

This paper has two objectives. Firstly, to know if the Classroom Motivational Climate questionnaire (CMC), developed by Alonso Tapia and Fernandez (2008), has the same characteristics and implications in adult non-university students as in secondary/high school students. Secondly, we aimed to find out to what extent the following factors affect perception of class climate: a) the motivational characteristics of the students, and b) the motivational characteristics of their teachers. Results obtained after giving 185 adult nonuniversity students the questionnaires, and carrying out confirmatory factor analysis, multigroup analysis, and correlation and regression analysis, showed similarities and differences in CMC perception between the two groups, in its consequences, and in the factors on which it depends. These results have important theoretical and practical implications which are commented on in the study.
