Abstract

The method of designing the multiband dual-fed dipole antenna for smart glasses is introduced in this paper. By utilizing the glasses’ frame and applying the theory of characteristic mode (TCM), two ports with inductive coupler element (ICE) and capacitive coupler element (CCE) respectively are assigned in the middle of the dipole. Thus, all characteristic modes of this wire antenna could be excited theoretically. Then by impedance matching to the two ports respectively, the antenna covers four ISM bands, including 433 MHz, 915 MHz, 2450 MHz, and 5800 MHz, for the applications of Internet of Things (IoT). Besides, in consideration of the function of positioning, it also covers GPS L1 band (1575 MHz). This research helps in designing smart glasses antennas with multiple and low-frequency bands, and facilitates smart glasses to serve as an IoT hub.
