Abstract

. MediaWiki as one of the products of Web 2.0 technology enables online collaboration between users. The implementation of MediaWiki at the university level enables collaborative learning process between lecturer and students. Not only collaboration, MediaWiki can also help the process of documentation and evaluation of student learning outcomes more transparent. In line with the rise of the learning paradigm shift that emphasizes the active role of the student (student-centered paradigm learning / SCL), MediaWiki is selected as one of numerous online collaboration tools. We are using Design Science Research method as an approach to develop a new system. To ensure every function of the system is working, essay writing trial test is done in two classes and the results reveal that 9 out of the 16 student groups succeeded to collaborate well. This research verifies that MediaWiki can become an alternative learning media and can support the implementation of a student-centered learning paradigm.
