Abstract
Abstract The paper describes a process with which the nonlinear dynamical simulation and the animation of tilting pad guide bearing in large hydro-unit can be performed on a PC computer. Based on non-stationary Reynolds equation the effects of the nonlinear displacement and velocity of journal center as well as the nonlinear swing angle and velocity of pad on oil film forces are taken into consideration. The animation displays vividly the pictures of the rotation of shaft, the movement of journal center and the swing motion of pad. As an example, the response due to momentarily created unbalance is given.
