Abstract
El presente libro concluye una etapa de la investigación que sobre el México porfiriano ha desarrollado Paul Garner y que anteriormente resultó en artículos en revistas especializadas y en capítulos de libros colectivos, y puede considerarse como la segunda parte de la biografía Porfirio Díaz (Londres: Longman, 2001), productos aquellos que, unidos a conferencias, cursos universitarios y participación en programas televisivos como Discutamos México (México, Conalcuta, 2010) hacen del académico de Leeds un genuino especialista en temas mexicanos del siglo XIX y XX.
