Abstract

The agricultural sector in India facing apparent shortage of labour is observed in rural farms, a phenomenon is due to migration. The study was based on primary data collected from 120 agricultural labour households of irrigated and rainfed situations. Education, land holding variables in irrigated and wage rate in rainfed situation, discriminates the migration and non-migration samples. The regression results also shown that, wage rate and land holding were significantly influence the migration. The frequency of migration outside the district was comparatively higher in rainfed. Majority of labourers migrated seasonally and the rate was high in rainfed situation.
