Abstract
(Birth 2017;44:345–351) Women’s decisions to use or not use neuraxial analgesia for labor may be influenced by fears and concerns about the neuraxial procedure. The aim of this qualitative study was to evaluate patients’ information sources, the timing and content of antepartum labor analgesia counseling, and patients’ preferences for counseling. An interview guide was developed and focused on the sources used for obtaining information about neuraxial analgesia, communication with practitioners about analgesia, perceptions of analgesia counseling received during labor, and preferences for analgesia counseling.
