Abstract

Abstract The unspeakable nature of sexual disorders in the general population is often exaggerated for religious leaders whose exposure often carries additional consequences. Using a case presentation model, this paper presents a pastoral counseling approach in the treatment of paraphilia with clergy. While not being exclusive of standard treatment approaches, the pastoral counseling approach is distinguished in its approach to the spiritual dynamics of the case. Pastoral counselors can be uniquely helpful to religious leaders as they are aware of and sensitive to the unspeakable in pastors' lives.
