Abstract

Man antirabic vaccination by Pasteur was made much easier by some veterinary surgeons, who played an important part. Bouley, great Bouley, was the indefatigable supporter of Pasteur's theories ; Professor Pilet has just asserted it. The writer here recalls what two unrecognized veterinary surgeons did. One of them Galtier, a professor at the veterinary school of Lyon, discovered rabbit as a laboratory animal and carried out sheep vaccina¬ tion ; the second one Bourrel at the risk of his life, supplied Pasteur with as many rabid dogs as necessary. But, them Pasteur wouldn’t have succeeded !
