Abstract

Particle holes states in 42Ca up to an excitation energy of 5.79 MeV have been determined. The quartet of states arising from the ( 1 d 3 2 −1, 1 f 7 2 ) configuration has been identified and from the extracted spectroscopic factors spin assignments of 4 − and 2 − are made to the 3.95 MeV and 4.50 MeV levels.
