Abstract

Recent SLAC measurements of the polarization asymmetry in inelastic polarized $e\ensuremath{-}d$ scattering have been executed at a momentum transfer not necessarily large enough for accurate comparison with theory using the parton model. Using isospin symmetry I derive a parton-model-independent relation for calculating the $e\ensuremath{-}d$ asymmetry in the Weinberg-Salam model directly in terms of ${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\mu}}({\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\mu}})\ensuremath{-}N$ scattering data taken at the same incoming lepton energy and lepton momentum transfer.
