Abstract

In the course of field experiments concerned with the control of parasitic gastroenteritis in calves, observations were made on the rate of development of the free-living stages of Ostertagia ostertagi and Cooperia oncophora in faeces excreted by the calves, on the rate of movement of the infective larvae from the faeces to the herbage, and on the rate of disintegration of the faecal pats, in order to assess the influence of these factors on the time at which a rise in the herbage infestation takes place.
