Abstract

A 21-year-old woman was referred by her periodontist to the Department of Dentistry at University Hospital in London, Ontario, Canada, for evaluation. The patient had a 4-year history of recurrent papillary growths of the anterior hard palate and palatal attached gingiva. The patient’s medical history was significant for a hemangioma of the ankle and a lipoma of the left supraclavicular region. Her developmental history was normal, and her family history was noncontributory. Ms. Leon is a third year dental student, Department of Dentistry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University, London, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Shuen was a medical geneticist, Division of Medical Genetics, Department of Pediatrics, London Health Sciences Centre, London, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Shuen is now a medical geneticist, The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Vizirakis is a periodontist, Sarnia Periodontics and Dental Implants, Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Dr. McCord is an assistant professor, Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Dentistry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University, London, Ontario, Canada; and a staff oral pathologist, Department of Dentistry, London Health Sciences Centre, London, Ontario, Canada.
