Abstract

Weak bases in urine were chromatographed after absorption by Dowex 50 at pH 2.0 and elution with aqueous pyridine. Various abnormalities observed in pathological urines included increased excretion of imidazolepropionic acid, particularly in cystic fibrosis, and of imidazolelactic acid in phenylketonuria. The extracts were suitable for quantitative estimation of urinary tyrosine which was exceptionally high in tyrosinosis.
