Abstract

IN a previous investigation of the Pre-Cambrian dolerites of Eastern Rhodesia, McElhinny and Opdyke1 established on the basis of palaeomagnetic measurements that two distinct periods of igneous activity were represented. At one locality it appeared that the Mashonaland dolerites had intruded the Umkondo dolerites. On the basis of the evidence from this one site they suggested that the Umkondo dolerites were the older of the two sets of intrusions.
