Abstract

There is good news as we finish the eighth year of our journal. When I began as interim editor, there was a shortage of manuscripts waiting to be published. Now I receive almost one per week. This is good news for the journal and for the American Society for Pain Management Nursing (ASPMN). We are also receiving manuscripts from many countries. For the editors, it means a lot of volunteer work. I wish to thank them for their hard and insightful work. We also had two supplements printed in the past year. The second supplement was done in conjunction with the Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing. And accompanying the supplement are our first continuing education units (CEUs)! A new contract was signed with Elsevier in the fall. The number of pages per issue has been increased. The member rate has been decreased while the percentage of royalites has increased. You will notice that the instructions for authors are no longer printed in the journal; they will be online only. Even though we have an increase in the number of manuscripts, I want to ask every member of ASPMN to consider submitting a manuscript. It could be a chapter project, a paper written for a degree, or one written with a few colleagues. Interesting or novel case studies will also be considered. As we move forward to 2008, think about what you want to see in the journal. We are searching for a CEU process so that those who are certified have another way to earn CEUs. The editorial board will be meeting at the September conference. Make it a point to speak with the editorial board members. Bring along a paper, and ask someone to look at it. Help us to continue giving you an excellent peer-reviewed journal.
