Abstract

With advanced imaging technology, it is now possible to attribute pathologies to the choroid in what were hitherto thought to be retinal diseases. The pachychoroid spectrum refers to a subset of diseases characterized by a thickened choroid and corresponding impairment of the choriocapillaris. Pachychoroid pigment epitheliopathy, central serous chorioretinopathy, pachychoroid neovasculopathy, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, focal choroidal excavation, and peripapillary pachychoroid syndrome have been included in the pachychoroid disease spectrum. Herein, we describe the etiopathogenesis, clinical and imaging features, and treatment options of pachychoroid neovasculopathy.
