Abstract

Sleep spindles, bursts of 11-16 Hz oscillatory rhythms, are a signature feature of non-REM (NREM) sleep and underlie information processing and memory consolidation. The role of spindles in emotional information processing in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), characterized by disturbed sleep and traumatic memories, remains unknown.
