Abstract
Objectives Research single muscle fiber by concentric needle (SFCN) found its place in the diagnosis of neuromuscular junction. It was made a lot of research in which evaluated jitter in healthy subjects. However, there is little work in which the usefulness of this examination in patients with myasthenia gravis. Aim The aim of the study was a retrospective evaluation of the sensitivity SFCN in patients with myasthenia confirmed by clinical observation, response to medicine, and the occurrence of positive antibodies against acetylcholine receptor. Methods The study involved 16 patients, 8 men and 8 women aged 62.5 ± 17.3 years. The disease duration ranged from 2 weeks to 4 years. In 8 patients, repetitive nerve stimulation was positive, positive receptor antibodies against acetylcholine receptor occurred in 15 patients, a positive reaction to medicines occurs in all patients. Results All patients had abnormal jitter. The average jitter tested using concentric needle was 89.3 ± 32.1. Conclusions SFCN examination is useful and reliable in the diagnosis of patients with myasthenia gravis.
