Abstract

Converging evidence supports associations between inflammation and both depression and suicide risk. We are acquiring data for the first PET imaging study in depression using [11C]ER-176, a high-sensitivity radiotracer for the 18 kDa translocator protein (TSPO, a marker of neuroinflammation). We hypothesized broadly-distributed elevations in TPSO binding in MDD, and positive relationships with depression severity and suicidal ideation.
