Background and Aim. A striatal dopaminergic dysfunction is detected in alcoholics. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is an addiction treatment. In alcoholics rTMS of dorsolateral prefrontal cortex increases dopamine release in the striatum, reducing craving.
