Abstract

Abstract1D ZnO nano‐rod is grown with by aqueous thermal decomposition method on ITO substrate in experiment which can be used in phase modulated LC devices. Two new devices with ZnO nano‐rod array electrode are proposed in this paper. One is the phase modulation with homogeneous LC device and the other is the fast‐response adaptive blue phase liquid crystal microlens. For ZnO‐LC phase modulation, the electric field distribution and phase modulation with influence of parameters are simulated analysis. For ZnO‐LC microlens, gradient electric fields are generated and lens‐like phase profile obtained based on Kerr effect of BPLC. Its focus can be tunable by either changing the applied voltage or selecting the polarized direction of the incident light. The devices have potential application in micro photonic components.
