Abstract

The solubility of oxygen in molten Fe-Cr alloys has been determined at 1550°, 1600°, and 1650°C for alloys containing up to about 50 pet Cr and found to decrease as chromium increases to 6 pet and then to increase gradually. Phase relations in the Fe-Cr-O system at steelmaking temperatures have been evaluated and two previously unreported oxides have been identified.
