Abstract

To apply the rapid solidification method to the production of FeCrAl alloy foils for use in the substrate of catalytic converters in automobile exhaust systems, the oxidation behavior of FeCrAlSiLa (Cr, 20–29; Al, 5–10; Si, 0–4; La, 0.03–0.2 (mass%)) alloy ribbons produced by a single-roller method was studied. Rapidly solidified ribbons had better oxidation resistance than that for conventionally rolled foils with a smaller La addition. Increasing the Cr or Al content improved the oxidation resistance of the ribbons, while increasing the Si content did not cause any improvement.
