Abstract

To describe the diabetes distress of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients who do not follow PROLANIS in Sinjai, eastern Indonesia. This is a pilot study using a descriptive approach. A total of 38 types 2 Non-Prolanis DM patients were recruited by purposive sampling in August 2019. Instruments used were sociodemographic and DDS17 questionnaires. Statistical results show that most respondents experienced low and moderate-level Distress (44.7% each) and some others (10.5%) high-level Distress. The mean score of Diabetes distress based on high to low domains are emotional burden distress (2.00), treatment distress (1.92), interpersonal Distress (1.68), and Distress with doctors/health professionals (1.42). It was found that the diabetes distress of Non-PROLANIS DM patients in the working area of Puskesmas Balangnipa Sinjai at moderate and high levels.
