Abstract

We document a new contribution to the Kuwaiti butterfly fauna: Colotis phisadia (Godart, 1819) was observed for the first time in 2012. This species is confirmed as a new record based on collections and observations made in 2019–2022. The geographic distribution of the species suggests that the butterfly was relatively recently introduced to the country. Causal evidence behind the introduction of C. phisadia following host plant (Salvadora persica L.) usage in Kuwait is discussed. The butterfly occurred in five localities belonging to four governorates. Future study of this species in Kuwait is suggested.
