Abstract

Pustulosis palmaris et plantaris or palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP) is a chronic pustular dermatitis characterized by palmoplantar intraepidermal vesicles filled with neutrophils. That very early vesicle formation occurs in the acrosyringium, and the sweat antimicrobial peptides, hCAP-18/LL-37 and dermcidin, are present in the vesicles of the palms and soles was discovered recently [1]. Also, IL-17 positive cell infiltration around the acrosyringium as well as IL-17 expression in the acrosyringeal cells has been reported [2].
