Abstract

“To make a long story short, we are in our present predicament because it was not recognized that reserves of energy in the ground have no value unless someone has the incentive to extract and market them.” Mr. Emerson addresses the energy crisis as the energy economist for the Chase Manhattan Bank. This analysis of America's energy troubles was presented to the American Power Conference in Chicago April 20, 1971.
