Abstract

The bottom three J = 1K II levels are nearly degenerate, leading to strong interactions among them, whichrequires the simultaneous presence of relativistic and correlation effects in any ab initiotreatment. Relativistic configuration interaction wavefunctions with ∼10 000 basis functions(J = 1) producef-valuesin very good agreement with two of the three measuredvalues. Improved predictions are made for the two uppermostJ = 1levels. Length and velocity gauge spreads average 1.3% for the five transitions. Landég-valuesand hyperfine structure constants are also obtained.
