Abstract

The literature review provides an overview of the academic discourse on microlearning. Microlearning stands for technology-supported learning that comprises short learning units. The article focuses from a vocational pedagogical perspective on the possibilities of linking it to didactic concepts. The method is based on the taxonomy for literature reviews after Harris M. Cooper (1988). A total of 38 documents were evaluated. The research shows that many expectations are placed on microlearning without questioning its added value. This results in a narrowing of the discourse to the presentation of examples and the justification of microlearning based on didactic characteristics, e. g. learning in micro units, short duration (3-15 min.) or independence of time and place.
