Abstract

The main elements of the composition-structure-properties relationship are considered for radiation-resistant deactivatable protective organosilicate coatings in the system polyorganosiloxanes-layered hydrosilicates-metal oxides and salts. Examples of radiation-resistant protective coatings are given. It is pointed out that the deactivation ability of organosilicate coatings is related to the low-energy character of the coating surface determined by the nature of the film-forming agent, which is provided by the gradient coating structure with nonuniform layers formed at a given quantitative ratio of film-forming agent: fillers and at an optimum composition of silicate and oxide components.
