Abstract

Preparing a concentrated slurry with high stability is pivotal to tape casting process. This work introduced surface modification of powders with the aim of increasing slurry solid loading and promoting the various performance of glass/Al2O3 composites. Its effect on rheological properties of suspensions, performance of green tapes, sintering characteristics and microwave properties was established by employing different qualitative and quantitative instruments. Experimental results revealed that the modified powders induced a better slurry rheological property and an excellent mechanical property of green tape. In addition, the sintering body with modified powders also possessed feasible sintering characterizations and microwave properties. We could conclude that it suggested a novel optimization method for tape casting to fabricate LTCC green tape.
