Abstract

The optimal sizing by the Modified Electric Systems Cascade Analysis method (MESCA) of an autonomous water pumping system powered by the electrical energy produced by a parabolic trough power plant is the main objective of this work. The desired pumping system consists of pumps powered by the CSP system without thermal energy storage. Also, a water storage tank is used to guarantees the autonomy of the system. The climatic data of the Oujda city (our case study) and the technical and economic data of the system components are used as inputs for the MESCA algorithm, to obtain the size of the parabolic trough power plant and the capacity of the various system components corresponding to the optimal configuration with the minimum Life Cycle Cost as economic criteria.
