Abstract

The determination of the optimal range of hardness of the hardened layer of the wheel rim and the tread surface of the rail head is considered in order to increase the wear resistance of the wheel-rail friction pair. Laboratory tests were carried out to establish the optimal ratio of wheel and rail hardness, which are tested under operating conditions. Keywords: hardness, wheel, rail, plasma hardening, crack resistance, fracture pattern, structure, martensite, troostite, sorbite. aliya-981@mail.ru
